The most important thing about Indian Independence that we were never taught in school

Was watching the 1st episode of Pradhanmantri and I loved it. We were never taught in school how India truly became India. Independence would've been just a useless term if it weren't for few people who never got much credit for the great things that they achieved.

We have always been told that India got independence because of Gandhi but this independence only meant that India was going to be divided once again into many princely states which had the choice of declaring their own independence or to join India or Pakistan. In school we haven't been taught about the importance of the role played by Vallabhbhai Patel, Lord Louis Mountbatten and many others which was as important as the role played by Gandhi.

I have started watching this informative series and cant wait to watch more episodes to know what really happened during the independence of India and how India really became India .
